| Going back to HKG next week!! Hmm...but I am not as excited as I thought I would be, why is that? Somehow, I sense that my level of "excitedness" drops to a lower point every time I go there for a visit. Maybe because I am going back alone this time (well, Pablo will join me in mid-Feb). But I'm still grateful to be able to go back and spend Chinese New Year there...hehe...will it still be the same like when I was young? Anyway, I think it will be quite special this time, cuz I will spend a decent amount of time there to see HKG again -- I'll try to see it as a tourist point of view, go out of my "familar zones" (vs. what I normally did before -- going to relatives' places, walking around the area around my home). I am curious how it will be like when I visit HKG this time...will I still fit in? Is the society as materialistic as I thought? Are the people there becoming more superficial? Will I still like it? Well, we shall see! | | |
| Hey guys, this is bothering me quite a bit lately. Houses are getting more and more expensive. How can we all (or I) afford one? Maybe it's because I will *finally* start working soon, and is a few years behind of people my age for their first job. Ahhhh, need to catch up. I should have taken a few more commerce courses in uni. ARGH! | | |
| Arrived here two days ago --- spent the whole day sleeping yesterday after working 4 hours as waiteress. Sleeping hours: (Sun) 2am-7am; 7:30am-2:30pm; 3:30pm-8:30pm; 11pm-3am --- haha..and awake since then (i.e. now writing xanga).
Remember back when I was in France, I told you about this art galleries with cute teddy bear paintings. I finally found the website: http://www.nanouherman.com/ Look carefully if you can see the shadows of the paint --> for example, the feather wings To me, it makes the wings look more real! I don't know the $$ of the paintings, but I bet I can't afford it....
For me nothing much, gonna unpack my luggage now. Gonna catering work again today! Need to earn some $$ for MY christmas present!! hahaha... | | |
| So yah, last night, I finally went to watch the movie "Perfume". It was a great movie with an interesting story line...but be ready for some pretty gross scenes (I just can't stand dead things). Strongly recommend you not to watch it right after your meal!! Towards the end, things get quite shocking as well. Overall, I will recommend others to watch it.
As for today, I went to St. Paul de Vence with two other friends from my company. It's a nice little village located northwest of Nice. It is situated on a mountain, the view from there was magnificant. The old part of the village is like an old fort, and it can be dated back to the 16th century. The roads within the old part are constructed using small stones decorated in shapes of flowers and vases. Upon arrival my friends and I found out that the shot of the exterior of "Grasses" in the movie "Perfume" is actually St. Paul. If you love art, you are going to love St. Paul. It's full of small galleries of sculptures and paintings. Went to one which have lots of cute teddy bear paintings. hehe, got their website too, but don't have it. I will post it up tomorrow. :)
